Catalog description

Study of analytic processes which explore data (especially very large data sets) for consistent patterns or systematic relationships, along with the study of methods for preparing data for analysis and validating the results of such analysis. The course will focus on processes, techniques, and algorithms for data mining, rather than applications. Data mining phases will be studied, including: data preparation, initial exploration, model building, model validation, and deployment. Prerequisites and Corequisites Prerequisites: CSC 300, STAT 281 , MATH 281, MATH 381, MATH 481 , or STAT 481 Note Authority to offer effective spring 2014.
