Catalog description

Explores how seemingly productive relational communication behaviors can be destructive and vice versa. More specifically, the course examines facets of relational communication historically viewed as destructive, immoral, or dysfunctional (e.g., gossip) with an eye toward how this communication produces positive or functional outcomes in relationships. Further, the course explores how communication historically viewed as functional, moral, and productive (e.g., honesty) can generate negative outcomes.
