Profiling Serial Killers, Spree Killers, and Mass Murderers

This course uses criminological theories to explain the behavior of serial murderers, mass murderers, spree killers, and sexual predators. The course identifies psychological, sociological, and neurological factors that influence behavior. Topics include serial murder in popular culture, victim preferences, gender differences, team killing, legal procedures, and a global comparison of offenders. Using the latest scholarly research, students develop a comprehensive understanding of serial killers and explore developing phenomena such as criminal profiling. Note Dual listed with CJUS 559.
