Catalog description

This course focuses on the engineering practices and technical foundations of a technology-based startup. Students apply principles of customer discovery to inform engineering requirements, system design, and technology development in emerging biomedical and biotechnological ventures. Course activities include translating user needs into engineering specifications, evaluating technical feasibility, and using competitive funding applications as structured exercises in engineering justification, design communication, and professional networking. Prerequisites and Corequisites Pre-req: BME 408 - Biomedical Engineering (C) Cross-listed: Dual-listed with BME 558. Note New course as of Fall 2026.
