Catalog description
This engineering course focuses on the application of fluorescence microscopy for biomedical engineering applications. The course examines the physical, electronic, and chemical origins of molecular luminescence and emphasizes how these phenomena are engineered into imaging systems, contrast mechanisms, and quantitative measurement tools. Students will learn to model, design, and optimize fluorescence-based microscopy techniques used in biomedical research, diagnostics, and translational engineering, with a strong emphasis on system-level thinking and quantitative analysis. Prerequisites and Corequisites Pre-req: PHYS 213 - University Physics II (C) [SGR #6, HSDC] and CHEM 114 - General Chemistry II (C) [SGR #6, HSDC] Cross-listed: Dual-listed with BME 540.
