Catalog description

This course introduces the mechanics of solid biological materials with emphasis on stress, strain, deformation, and failure of tissues. Topics include mechanical behavior of bone, cartilage, tendon, and soft tissues, constitutive modeling, anisotropy, and viscoelasticity. Applications focus on injury, disease, and the design and evaluation of biomedical devices and implants. Prerequisites and Corequisites Pre-req: BME 310 - Biomechanical Engineering OR BME 303 - Introduction to Biomechanics (C) Cross-listed: Dual-listed with BME 512.
