Bioarchaeology

Catalog description

Bioarchaeology is the intersectional subdiscipline between biological anthropology and archaeology that studies the lives of ancient peoples through their biological remains (e.g., skeletons, bog bodies, mummies, and ancient DNA). Through cross-cultural and temporal analyses of human biological remains, bioarchaeologists seek to answer questions about human behaviors across and within cultures. This course provides an overview of the history, methods, theory, and applications of bioarchaeology and its interrelatedness with other disciplines (e.g. genomics, chemistry, epidemiology, and ecology).
