Large Mammal Ecology and Management

Catalog description

Explores key concepts in wildlife ecology and management, with a focus on large mammal conservation. Students will examine population dynamics, research methods, and contemporary issues such as climate change and rewilding, while integrating legal, social, and political considerations. Through lectures, labs, and fieldwork, students will develop critical thinking, data analysis, and communication skills. Guest speakers will provide real-world insights, and group research projects will address the challenges of managing large mammal populations in human-dominated landscapes. Prerequisites: NRM 230 and NRM 276 and ( NRM 282 or STAT 281 ) and NRM 311 . Corequisites: WL 417L . Notes: Spring, odd years.
