ECG and Clinical Stress Testing

This course is designed to fill the needs of students who desire the ability to interpret the normal and abnormal, resting and exercise ECG, as well as provide opportunities to learn and practice the basic components of maximal stress testing during a variety of exercise conditions. Since clinical stress testing and ECG interpretation is a vital component of the laboratory skills needed by today’s exercise physiologist, emphasis in this course will be focused on understanding and interpreting ECG tracings and related pathophysiology, preparation of the exercise 12-lead ECG, and interpretation of maximal stress test results regarding exercise tolerance for various clinical populations and comparing them to normal individuals. In addition, an overview of other diagnostic procedures that involve the use of exercise will be given. Registration Restriction: Instructor consent.
