History of Theatre Design and Architecture

Catalog description
A review of the history and evolution of scene, costume, lighting, prop and sound design for the theatre. Course will also examine the evolution of theatre spaces, from the outdoor theatre of the Ancient Greeks to traveling wagon stages of the medieval period to modern architectural trends. The course will examine non-western forms of theatre such as aboriginal and African theatre as well as western world theatre traditions. Thematic Thread(s): Cultural Literacy & Community Building, Conservation, Technology & Imagination, Transfer Thread Completion Course Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
