Catalog description

Introduction to the field of clinical psychology. Includes an overview of training, similarities, and differences among various mental health service providers. Students will be introduced to interviewing skills, approaches to psychotherapy, assessment, treatment planning, and areas of specialization and application within the field. Emphasis is placed on consideration of issues that tend to arise when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including differences in racial and ethnic background, sex and gender, age, sexual orientation, religious background, and those with mental and physical disabilities. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
