Psychology of Sexual and Gender Diversity

Catalog description

Overview of psychological perspectives and current research concerning the field of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer psychology. The course takes a life-span developmental perspective and examines the diversity of gender and sexual identities. Topics include theories of sexual orientation and gender identity, oppression and discrimination, history of the Queer community and the coming out process. CAPP Prerequisites: A grade of C or higher in PSYC 105 or any gender studies course or permission from the instructor. Thematic Thread(s): Cultural Literacy & Community Building, Human Diversity & Well-Being, Transfer Thread Completion Course Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
