Catalog description

This is an introductory course on the properties and behavior of condensed materials, mainly solids. Topics covered include, crystal structures, electronic and thermal properties, lattice dynamics, and energy band models. Time permitting, topics such as magnetic materials and superconductivity will also be introduced. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
