Catalog description

An introductory course that focuses on the transition from classical physics covered in the calculus based introductory physics sequence to contemporary physics. Topics include: Overview of special relativity, experimental and theoretical developments that led to the discovery of the atomic structure, early quantum mechanics, introduction to Schrödinger's equation, and a brief introduction to solid state physics. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
