Independent Study

Catalog description

With the prior approval of the student's advisor and the written approval of the sponsoring professor, a student may pursue an individual project especially suited to meet the student's interests and needs. A topic may receive from one to three semester hours credit. A student may enroll in separate Independent Studies (different topics of study) up to a total of six semester hours' credit. Independent Study courses give students the opportunity to pursue research and/or studies that are not part of the university's traditional course offerings. Students work one on one or in small groups with faculty guidance and are typically required to submit a final paper or project as determined by the supervising professor. Enrollment is limited to Graduate level students.
