Catalog description

Provide teacher candidates with conceptual tools to analyze health-related behaviors of school-aged learners and the social, cultural and environmental context in which they occur. This course will apply theories drawn from public health, psychology and sociology to the process of planning and evaluating wellness instruction in schools that assists learners in developing and maintaining healthy behaviors. The process of collecting, tracking and analyzing health-related data will be included in the course as well as current applications, programs and tools that can be used to track and improve health behaviors. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll. Enrollment limited to students with the ACCEPTANCE - TEACHER CANDIDACY attribute.
