Catalog description

This course focuses on the nursing care of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, as well as the care of the neonate. Emphasis is placed on the physiological, psychological, and social aspects of maternal and neonatal health, with an emphasis on family-centered care, evidence-based practice, and patient safety. Students will develop skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of common maternal and neonatal conditions while utilizing leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking to ensure optimal outcomes for mothers and infants. This course integrates professional competencies, ensuring that students meet essential standards for maternal and neonatal nursing care. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll. Enrollment is limited to students with a program in Nursing, Nursing or Nursing 1+2+1.
