Catalog description

This course will explore current research and practices of culturally responsive teaching (CRT) in the choral arts. Through detailed analysis of relevant case studies, students will immerse themselves in simulated and situated learning experiences that develop a teaching/conducting pedagogy centered in cultural responsiveness. Students will deepen their understanding and application of personal practice knowledge (PPK), relevant curriculum building, and empathy/social agency that is congruent with the communication and learning styles of ethnically, culturally, and artistically diverse students. Enrollment is limited to Graduate level students.
