Applied Woodwinds

Catalog description

Applied Woodwinds develops students' technical skills, musicality, and performance abilities on a range of woodwind instruments. In individualized weekly lessons, students focus on tone production, articulation, phrasing, flexibility, and repertoire from various musical periods and styles. Assignments, including scales, etudes, and solo works, are tailored to each student's goals and experience. Students are expected to demonstrate professionalism, engage in studio events, and cultivate the skills necessary for continuous musical growth and expressive performance. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll. Enrollment limited to students with department of Music.
