Catalog description

This course continues building upon the concepts of harmonic practice and voice-leading from Music Theory and Analysis III, expanding to chromatic chordal evolution and advanced harmonic analysis. Through harmonic analysis, form analysis, composition, orchestration, and arranging, students will apply these methods to representative works from several historical stylistic periods, emphasizing the historical evolution of forms from the Renaissance through the late Romantic period and into the present day. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
