Early Childhood and Elementary Music Methods

Catalog description
This course prepares music education majors to teach music in early childhood and elementary settings. Students will explore developmentally appropriate pedagogy, assessment strategies, and diverse repertoire. Key methodologies, including but not limited to Orff, Kodály, and Dalcroze approaches, will be applied to designing lessons that incorporate singing, movement, classroom percussion, and musical games. Emphasis is placed on lesson planning, sequencing, and scaffolding, as well as cross-curricular integration. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll. Enrollment limited to students with department of Music.
