Catalog description

This course in partial differential equations has wide-ranging applications in a variety of fields such as engineering and physics. Topics include first order equations and the method of characteristics; an introduction to Fourier series; second order equations including the heat, wave, and Laplace equations; numerical methods for computing solutions; conservation laws. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
