Fundamentals of Public Health Policy and Management

Catalog description

This course examines the foundational concepts of public health policy, focusing on the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies that influence public health and healthcare systems. Students will explore the U.S. public health system’s structure, key stakeholders, public health financing mechanisms, and the policymaking process. The course will also emphasize public health management principles, their application in public health leadership, and the social, political, economic, and ethical dimensions of health policy. Comparative analysis of international public health systems will provide additional insights into the challenges and opportunities in global public health policy and management. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
