Gender and the Environment

Catalog description

Gender and the Environment will explore the ways that human interaction with the natural environment is shaped by gender roles and gender inequality in cultures around the world. Topics covered will include gender differences in resource access, connections between environmental degradation and women's oppression, cultural metaphors that link nature and gender (e.g. "mother earth") and the way that gender shapes environmental movements. Thematic Thread(s): Human Diversity & Well-Being, Transfer Thread Completion Course, United Stated in Global Context Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
