Catalog description

This course provides a brief history of the English language and thorough study of traditional and transformational grammar with emphasis on syntax. Differences between prescriptive and descriptive grammar and problems of current usage are also considered. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
