Language Acquisition & Literacy Development: Birth to Age 5 includes an examination of the process of language and literacy development from birth through age 5 with a focus on using knowledge of child development in the school and with families. Through a blend of research/theory and practice, teacher candidates explore the relationship between language development and literacy, the development of instruction and assessment tools to foster literacy development, the creation of a literate environment and cultural familial influences on language and literacy. Enrollment is limited to Graduate level students.
