Catalog description

This course is designed to introduce students to early childhood education with emphasis on historical and contemporary perspectives, theories, practice and current trends and developments. Early childhood environments for children from birth through nine years of age will be studies and various curricula materials will be reviewed. Examination of the student's personal qualities in relationship to expectations of the field is addressed throughout the course (COE assessment of dispositions). Students will be exposed to children within a variety of early childhood settings via videotaped observations of children and classrooms. Thematic Thread(s): Transfer Thread Completion Course
