Crime Prevention

Catalog description

This course introduces students to various methods of crime prevention, especially those that aim to prevent crime before it requires traditional punitive responses. The course surveys theory and research on various approaches such as situational crime prevention, environmental design, community partnerships, social programs, and interventions with at-risk youth. Emphasis is placed on applying course material to real-world crime prevention scenarios.
