Computer Organization and Architecture

Catalog description
This course provides an overview of computer organization and architecture and how computer design has evolved. The topics includes an overview of the major components of computers and their hardware interactions such as CPU control, pipelining, storage, cache, I/O devices, and their performances. The course will also introduce operating systems, instruction set operations and computer representation of integers and floating-point numbers, as well as algorithms for computer arithmetic. Students will understand the core components of computing architecture and design. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
