Catalog description
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of system administration and security within modern server (Linux/Unix or Windows) environments. Students will learn the critical skills and knowledge required to manage and secure networked services. Topics include remote login, encryption/decryption, compression, print service, storage allocation, user management, and backup of the critical data and system. Practical hands-on exercises and real-world case studies will empower students to become proficient system administrators with a strong focus on safeguarding systems and data. Students with a semester level of Freshman 1, Freshman 2 or Sophomore 1 may not enroll.
