This course is designed to introduce the middle-level teaching candidate to structured literacy in the content area of reading and writing. The content also includes essential elements in literacy instruction: phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing to enable the pre-service teacher to create effective learning environments for diverse learning contexts.
