Catalog description

This graduate-level course explores the philosophy, principles, ethics, and practices of sports officiating across a wide range of sports. Designed for students in the Coaching and Officiating master's program, the course emphasizes the cognitive, behavioral, and ethical dimensions of officiating rather than technical skills for specific sports. Through experiential projects, video analysis, reflections, and observations, students will critically examine the role of the official in sport, develop leadership and decision-making competencies, and reflect on the social, psychological, and cultural contexts that shape officiating practice.
