Catalog description
A course that introduces students to the field of psychometrics, or the quantification of psychological phenomena. Material will address the history, theory, administration, and interpretation of psychological tests. Covering principles of test construction, reliability, validity, and item analysis, students will learn to evaluate various psychological assessments with a focus on the statistical properties of these measures. Course content has widespread implications for psychological science and practice. The course is designed to make visible that psychometrics is more complicated, more important, and more interesting of a discipline than students of psychology typically realize.
