Catalog description

Home to the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, Stockholm has been the birthplace of groundbreaking scientific discoveries since 1901. Exploring the history of the prize, the life of Alfred Nobel, and the city’s scientific legacy, this course combines on-campus study with an optional immersive experience in Sweden. In the on-campus course, students will analyze Nobel Prize-winning research, learn about several controversies surrounding the Nobel Prize, examine systemic inequities in STEM, and engage with scientists from Stockholm’s Karolinska Institute and SciLifeLab.
