Catalog description

An investigation of how finance affects the broader economy. Traditional macroeconomics largely ignores the role of finance, while the study of finance focuses on asset prices and corporate finance but ignores macroeconomics. Macro-finance clinches the connections and interactions between the financial sector and the macroeconomy. Students will learn a theoretical background that will be used to investigate key analytical and policy issues raised by macro-finance trends in a globalized and financialized world. Students will also study the operations of key financial markets and institutions and explore the two-way relation between international macro-finance and financial stability policy by concentrating on recent and current events. Students will have an opportunity to engage in research following the standards and conventions for research papers in economics.
