Catalog description

A bottom-up approach to learning how a computer works. We begin with binary data representation and logic circuits, and build up to how a processor runs a program and cache enables the processor to quickly access data. Students use a systems programming language and assembly language for exploring the interaction between software and hardware and for introducing parallel computing concepts.
