Catalog description
The course allows the student to practice in an industry related to food processing, offering you a vision of the professional life of a technician in the industry or in analysis, processing, quality control, inspection, validation, manufacturing or packaging laboratories. In addition, it allows you to apply the concepts and experiences a cquired in the courses of the associate degree program in Food Technology and Hygiene to real situations that you could face in your profession. Students are required to attend orientation activities and seminars to familiarize themselves with the course contents and the internship location. The course involves an internship in an industry that requires at least 10 hours per week of internship for a period of 9 weeks during the semester or summer to pass the course and 18 hours of lecture that includes the preparation of the student for the internship center and writing a resume to search for job offers. The course allows to evaluate and improve communication of the students when writing reports and reports of the activities and tasks carried out during the internship. Also, the strengthening of the skills that allow the student to work and be successful in their professional future, including critical thinking, scientific reasoning, quantitative reasoning, team science and safety in the laboratory. REPR 650 RESEARCH PROJECT I 1 CREDIT In this course, the student will develop a proposal for a research project that must be approved by his mentor and the School of Sciences and Technology. Upon proposal approval, the student must complete the appropriate documents and certifications (attend biosafety workshops, online compliance certifications, and filled out required documents) necessary to submit the research project to the AGMUS Compliance Office. The number of hours devoted to the course shall be established between the student and the mentor.
