Catalog description
The course focuses on the analysis of nursing theories and their applications in scenarios with health disparities. Emphasis on strategies for the elimination of health disparities that have been identified as an area of research emphasis by the National Institute of Nursing Research. This course examines the determinants of health and health disparities within the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as globally. The student examines health disparities and disease burden in soci al, cultural, political, economic and environmental contexts using a systematic and multidisciplinary approach. The impact of the latest health reforms at national and local level on health disparities and the role of the nursing profession in this process is analyzed. It facilitates the development of competencies related to advanced knowledge for nursing science, prevention and health promotion, quality improvement and safety and advanced care for vulnerable groups.
