Catalog description

This course examines the origin and development of business law in Puerto Rico, as well as introducing the most important aspects of state powers and our legal system. It also covers the legal aspects of obligations and contracts, the ethical conduct that affects business transactions with a n emphasis on Puerto Rican law. Special attention is given to contracts such as sales and securities, transfer of property, deeds, and mortgages. The different forms of business organization are discussed, such as: corporations, partnerships, and individual business (dba’s). Legislation related to negotiable instruments, bankruptcy, patents, and copyrights are incorporated into the discussion.
