FUNDAMENTALS OF ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE IN HEALTH SERVICES

Catalog description

This course explores the essential practices of accounting and finance applied to the health sector. The student will apply the concepts learned from the environment of healthcare settings, including costs, forecast, future costs, direct and indirect costs, "ratios", patient’s day’s costs, case mix, productivity, inventory analysis, balance sheet, EBITDA, among others. It will focus on the development and interpretation of daily and monthly financial reports as a measure of risk prevention and institutional stability. The course wi ll include additional practice exercises and the use of computer programs.
