Catalog description

The course consists of an introduction to the theory of information systems, basic concepts in the selection and use of programs. The applications of models available in general industry and specialized systems in the health service delivery system will be taken into consideration. The models will be evaluated in terms of data collection in the different institutional services, their importance as a support system in decision -making or institutional strategic planning, accounting systems for the processes o f use of services, billing, census and others. The student will create his vision regarding the management of emerging data from information systems and its application to health services in a clear and precise way. The use of correct language aligned with those used in informatics and health will be encouraged. During the course, computer applications that best fit the health market and that facilitate daily tasks will be identified. At the end of the course, the student will be able to select and indicate the uses and benefits of information systems in the daily administrative work of health environments and how to integrate clinical applications to the general institutional information system.
