INTRODUCTION TO LINGUISTICS

Catalog description

This course offers a scientific study of language providing a scenic view of basic language theories and approaches and their effects on the thinking processes. It includes fundamental phonological, morphological, syntactic and semantic concepts, and their application with second language learners. Moreover, special emphasis is placed in the application of teaching activities and strategies according to each theory or approach as well as the processes followed by linguists in their specialized field. This course is required for all teacher candidates in the TESL program.
