Three hours of lecture per week. This course provides advanced engineering mathematics necessary to analyze and design complex electrical and electronic devices, circuits, and systems. Selected topics from linear algebra, complex variables, and partial differential equations are presented. Topics include matrix algebra, determinants, inverses, eigenvalues and eigenvectors; complex numbers, functions of complex variables, complex integration, complex power series, r esidue integration; partial differential equations, diffusion equation, wave equation, and Laplace equation. Applications to analysis of linear circuits, control and communication systems, and electromagnetic waves are discussed. Students will hone their q uantitative reasoning skills by applying a vast set of mathematical tools to predict the dynamic behavior of systems arising from engineering applications such as electric circuits, heat transfer, control and communication systems, signal processing, vibrational mechanics, among others. ENGI 400 CAPSTONE I 1 CREDIT Capstone Project in which groups of students will work on a project from the conception of the idea to the manufacture of the prototype related to Avionics. This will expose the student to problem situations and engineering design issues like those encountered in industry and research laboratories. To achieve this goal the students will propose Avionics projects to the Faculty Capstone Committee for reviewing and approval. The student will a pply project management techniques establishing a calendar logistic task for the semester. The designed final product of the project must be an original design of the group. As a member of a team, the student will develop and design possible solutions to t he project problem, applying the knowledge and skills developed through previous approved courses and additional research. ENGI 406 FLUID MECHANICS LABORATORY 1 CREDIT Laboratory work that supplements classroom instruction in fluid mechanics phenomena; measuring devices and techniques; testing of fluid machinery. Students will develop the communication and scientific reasoning required to apply the fluid mechanics concepts in the laboratory equipment.
