Catalog description

Three hours of lecture per week. This course provides a practical introduction to digital signal processing concepts. Topics include discrete -time signals and systems, sampling, convolution, z -transforms, frequency response, discrete-time Fourier transform, fast Fourier transform (FFT), and digital filtering (infinite impulse response (IIR) and finite impulse response (FIR)). Students will use computer tools and their analytical skills to analyze and design filtering applications typically encountered in audio signal and image processing. In addition, students will explore the literature to familiarize themselves with recent developments in signal processing.
