POWER ELECTRONICS
Sistema Universitario Ana G. Mendez · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Three hours of lecture per week. Application of electronic devices to the conversion of electrical power. Device fundamentals, controlled rectifiers, alternating current (AC) voltage controllers, alternating current to direct current (AC to DC) converters, DC to DC converters, DC to AC inverters, electric motor controllers, snubbers, thermal design considerations. Emphasis on design, simulation, construction, and testing of power electronic components and systems. Students will use computer tools and their analytical skills to analyze and design electronic circuits for power conversion commonly encountered in consumer electronics and industrial applications.
