INTEGRATED PROSTHODONTICS I: FIXED AND IMPLANT PROSTHESES

Catalog description

In this course students acquire fixed prosthodontics discipline -specific knowledge that must be considered when diagnosing, treatment planning and treating the sequelae of oral pathologies such as caries and periodontal disease. The student gains appreciation for the importance of matching patient-centered considerations with the indications and contraindications of the fixed prosthodontic restorative alternatives (including implant -supported alternatives) for tooth replacement in the partially edentulous patient. The student develops the skills and knowledge necessary for fixed prosthodontic tooth preparations and restorations (individual crowns, veneers, fixed partial dentures, inlays, onlays, attached prostheses, intraradicular retainers), demonstrating awareness of the prosthesis fabrication process and the materials used for its manufacture. This course also emphasizes the advancements and enhancements that the widely available new technologies at the SDM provide for the conduct of clinical procedures, prostheses design, laboratory procedures, and as learning and self-assessment tools.
