Catalog description
This course provides knowledge about managing pain and anxiety during dental procedures through sedation and general anesthesia. It emphasizes using general anesthesia or sedation during complex procedures as part of a treatment plan or due to patient -centered circumstances. The course reviews for both modalities: pre - anesthetic/sedation evaluation, methods, medications, procedures, indications, contraindications, and complications. Students apply previously gained knowledge in pharmacology and translate c oncepts from the biomedical sciences into an integrated medical perspective for the different types of medications used their indications, contraindications, and side effects.
