Catalog description
The initial focus of this course consists of learning the composition, classification, and mechanisms of action of the most commonly used anesthetics in dental practice. A subsequent goal of the course is to provide the student clinician with the knowledge, competence, and attitude to safely administer local anesthesia leveraging foundational knowledge acquired in the biomedical sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, and pha rmacology. Similarly, issues related to the indications, contraindications, and uses of anesthetics in dental practice and the management of intra- and postoperative complications are also covered.
