Catalog description
This course covers the foundations of the theory and practice of marital and family counseling. It begins with the origins and foundations of the principal theories in marital and family counseling including the psychoanalytic, behavioral, experimental, strategic, and structural . The analysis includes a review of the structure and phases of the functional and dysfunctional families. The counseling structure and the specific therapeutic interventions of these models will be evaluated. Current research trends and evidenced based co unseling models will be explored. Students will integrate theories and models with field observations and their own counseling experiences. .
