UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH IN CHEMISTRY II

Catalog description

The CHEM 366 course is an undergraduate research course that focuses on student participation in the different lines of research and/or projects within the field of chemistry and related areas: organic synthesis, organic chemistry, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, electrochemistry, analytical chemistry, nanomaterials, among others, with applications in other fields such as physics, biomedicine, biology and environmental sciences. The student will participate in an investigation or proj ect under the supervision of a mentor and collaborator where he will complete 9 hours a week. The mentor will meet regularly with the student s to make research plans, assess risks associated with the assigned research or project, review results, and identify opportunities for poster and oral presentations. The student will use and put into practice the knowledge acquired in his chemistry courses. It will apply the use of technological equipment for the analysis and interpretation of scientific data. You wil l use information skills for the search for scientific literature and communication to write a summary and a scientific article of your research. The student is encouraged to assume the main responsibility of the project and to make substantial contributions using innovation in the search for solutions, conditions, improvements, viable alternatives or new procedures in the development of a research project in search of sustainable results. .
